This is a German Kunz no 7 check out aircraft. I cannot decide the age of this aircraft, as minimal is knob about the enterprise. This specific aircraft is one of my heirlooms, as it when belonged to my late grandfather. This airplane was likely utilized by him in quite a few unique approaches but since he crafted his summer time cottage in the Finnish archipelago by him´myself, I would think that this plane was extremely considerably involved.

The plane has been pretty much unused considering the fact that the early 1970s when my grandfather handed away. And having develop into fascinated in woodworking I stumbled around this hand plane when traveling to the summer time cottage in 2011. Following paying virtually forty several years in a unheated summertime cottage and remaining exposed to the moist and salty winds of the Gulf of Finland, this airplane experienced still managed quite nicely. When I identified the plane it was evidently influenced with light area rust and what appeared like salt stains on the sole, but all in all, the plane had survived really nicely.
Herr Gustav Kunz was a modest male. The airplane was only marked with the corporation name at the the toe with the design number at the heel. The lever cap and iron are unmarked at the entrance, but if you transform the iron all around, the initials GK are stamped at the back again.

This plane is not fitted with a frog adjusting screw on the back of the frog. Also the blade adjuster is instead compact, primarily contemplating the measurement of the airplane. The great detail is that it leaves extra room for your hand, but turning the wheel with just two fingers can be a little bit of an problem.

The aircraft is in really respectable form, with only slight decline of the japanning. Every part on this plane seems to be primary. The handles look to be apple. They are lacquered but I cannot notify if this was original or one thing my grandfather additional.

The person experience is quite good. The Kunz iron is a superior one particular and a little thicker than the Stanley irons. I have not fettled a complete whole lot with it as I incredibly rarely have a want for a no 7 and I also want to make confident I won’t destruction it.
