Jesus School may perhaps not be the oldest of Cambridge’s schools, but no matter it can still boast the oldest chapel. The existing cruciform building was formerly the monastic church of St Mary & St Radegund, a convent of nuns launched in 1157. This was dissolved in 1496 when the existing school was started on the same web-site by Bishop John Alcock with the previous convent church tailored to use as the current college chapel, which concerned various modifications to its composition like the demolition of different pieces which include the increased portion of the nave. Jesus School Chapel is a person of my absolute favourites, a delightful creating with some lovely glass. Fortunately it seems to be 1 of the more visitor pleasant faculties in Cambridge getting normally uncovered it feasible to wander close to freely although in some way steering clear of the crowds of holidaymakers that specified other Cambridge schools bring in.
