Circa 1848
NR No 74002253
This 1800s Greek revival-design mansion developed by the John T. McMurran relatives starting in 1841.
The interior of the 1st ground is arranged all-around a central corridor and is made up of a dining home, drawing area, parlor, library, again hall, storage and company rooms. The central and back corridor provide a wonderful illustration of painted floor fabric that is initial to the residence, and another characteristic is the punkah located in the dining place. Interior doorways are framed by Ionic columns and sunburst-kind woodwork previously mentioned.
Guided excursions of the house give site visitors a glimpse into the way of life of the pre-Civil War American South and enable them recognize slave daily life in an estate setting. Sitting currently on 80 acres maintained by the National Park Assistance, the home stands as a perfectly-preserved piece of America’s historical past.
