Monk flat-iron skiffs had been intended by the famed Pacific Northwest designer Edwin Monk, the ideas for which are contained in his 1934 e-book “Smaller Boats”. These skiffs are colloquially identified as “flat-irons” or just “flatties” because that is what they look like when viewed straight from higher than – the flat-iron (sometimes recognised as a “unfortunate-iron”, do not ask me why) utilised by our grandparents to press dresses. We build these types of boats in the course of the to start with semester of each 12 months-long course.
