Chloe was released in 1960. Aspects are sketchy until finally the late 1970’s when she was acquired by Greg Smith in Rowayton, CT. A survey identified her as owning been designed in Norway, but her builder is unknown. For the reason that the primary mahogany planking experienced deteriorated, Smith experienced the hull re-planked with bronze-fixed Alaskan Yellow Cedar by a shipwright identified as Pieter Den Hartog of Hamilton Woodworking. Greg sailed Chloe on Extensive Island Seem right up until 1985 when he moved to Seattle.
In the early 1990s, Chloe’s deck and sheer plank were being destroyed by a storm in Port Hadlock. A second restoration was carried out by Greg’s brother, Charlie Smith, previous captain of Neil Young’s 100′ Baltic Schooner, Ragland. The deck and household have been changed, and a self-baling cockpit was mounted.
Just after lots of spouse and children adventures in the Salish Sea, Greg donated Chloe to The Middle for Picket Boats in Seattle in 2018. Brandt Faatz, then Government Director at CWB, ordered Chloe. She was in fantastic condition but essential cosmetic do the job.
Just after a haul-out to refresh base and topsides paint, Brandt stripped and refinished the mast in December 2019 applying Awlwood. The residence and comings ended up refinished as a spring 2020 lockdown task.
Chloe sailed Seattle’s Lake Union as a result of the summertime of 2020 and relocated to Port Townsend in November. She now resides in Port Townsend’s Boat Haven.
