The Port Townsend (Washington) Yacht Club (PTYC) was arranged in February, 1947. Helpful and welcoming to all fascinated functions, the Club has virtually just one hundred energetic associates, and hosts a range of routines and cruises in the course of the calendar year. Membership is open to all.

The Club hosts Opening Working day ceremonies on the first Saturday in Might to celebrate the starting of the boating and cruising time in our corner of the Pacific Northwest. This calendar year, the ceremony and boat parade was held Saturday, May well 2nd, 2015 on the Port Townsend waterfront, Commodore Gerry Walsh officiating. This year, in marked contrast to the prior calendar year, the climate was totally impressive.
Ceremonies commence with an Opening Working day breakfast at the Club’s amenities just north of the Port Townsend Boat Haven which was concluded by a flag-elevating executed by the community Sea Scouts and Pledge of Allegiance.
Commodore Gerry Walsh presided over the Opening Working day parade. The examining stand was at the Northwest Maritime Heart pier, which affords a wonderful view of the Port Townsend waterfront. Gerry’s newly christened boat, CELTIC Sunlight, was moored at the foot of the pier.
The Opening Day Parade began with a smaller craft parade coordinated by the Port Townsend Pocket Yachters teams.yahoo.com/team/porttownsendsmallboats/ swinging previous the examining stand and marshalling close inshore to make space the greater vessels.
Port Townsend Yacht Club members followed up with the large selection of vessels both sail and energy owned by users of the Club.
The Club was honored by a VHF radio deal with from the mayor of Port Townsend, and the ceremonies and parade were being shut with the conventional “Blessing of the Fleet” for all. Later on, associates and friends appreciated the sunshine and outstanding weather conditions with sails and cruising around the location and a chowder supper at the conclude of the working day.
