Prior to utilizing the clamp/random orbital sanding strategy, I had tried out to bogus owning a drum sander at my drill press, witnessed in the qualifications right here. It ‘sort of’ worked, but the phony fence, created with some scrap wood, and clamps, wasn’t the most effective alternative, and not very as cleanse as I might hoped. It was also a rather smaller drum sander head for producing straight strains. I have due to the fact bought a greater arbor, and drum sanding tubes, and slice a new sacrificial plate with a new adjustable hole cutter that matches it. In the system, however, I lifted up the sacrificial plate, which then spun all over, burning a circular patch in my Woodpeckers drill push table’s laminated prime 🙁
Observe in this pic that sanding the edges of the boards with my clamp/random orbital sanding method worked great. They sit flush on the table top.
