This boat, a specifically sweet illustration (as are they all) of a Grandy lapstrake skiff developed in 2010 for a local owner, is for sale at the School’s web site.
The boat is lapstrake planked with aged-growth western pink cedar more than steambent white oak frames, and mounted with coppy rivets and roves to a sapele backbone. The standing lug rig was designed by Northwest Sails which is co-situated with the Faculty.
The Grandy is 11 1/2 ft very long with a beam of just 4 ft. It can very easily carry very well over 225 kilos on an 8 inch draft which, as you can see in these photographs, is not even near to its ability.
A set of spruce oars, leathered and custom-healthy to the boat, rounds out the ensemble.
It can be quickly trailered guiding even modest compact autos as it weighs all around 250 kilos including its rig, and is a fantastic boat for enjoying the shielded salt water coves of the Puget Audio as perfectly as the numerous freshwater lakes that abound in our region.

The Grandy Boat Enterprise was previously positioned on Lake Union in Seattle, and manufactured lots of hundreds of boats both of those significant and modest during a long tenure there from the early 1920’s to 1967.
