This element is from a examine, (or studiolo), meant for meditation and research. Its partitions are carried out in a wooden-inlay approach recognised as intarsia. The latticework doorways of the cabinets, demonstrated open or partly closed, reveal the up to date fascination in linear viewpoint. The cabinets display screen objects reflecting Duke Federico’s extensive-ranging creative and scientific passions, and the depictions of books remember his considerable library. Emblems of the Montefeltro are also represented. This space may perhaps have been developed by Francesco di Giorgio (1439-1502) and was executed by Giuliano da Majano (1432-1490). A related area, in situ, was made for the duke’s palace at Urbino.
