The Palooza Crooza is an outgrowth of the Pocket Yacht Palooza. It starts the day following the 1-day Pocket Yacht Palooza, which is usually the third Saturday in July at the Northwest Maritime Middle in Port Townsend WA, and can be finest characterised, I believe, as a tiny craft team sailing expedition that some could possibly call a “slow-movement raid”. It is most emphatically not a race, but an amble in boats of all varieties. For extra details, make contact with organizer Marty Loken at norseboater22 at gmail.com

The 2015 Palooza Crooza started in Port Townsend on Sunday, July 19th, 2015, a brilliantly sunny day, with about ten knots of wind. I counted 22 boats, which includes a solitary and two double kayaks. 1 utility tug (the 26-foot BLUE STAR) and just one ability catamaran (JUST ENUF, a Bernd Kohler design) accompanied the fleet.

The track the initially working day took us south throughout Port Townsend Bay, by the Port Townsend Canal involving the Olympic Peninsula and Indian Island, then south throughout Oak Bay, passing Olele Issue, and into Mats Mats Bay for the evening. With temperatures achieving practically 90 levels beneath completely apparent skies, the winds died in lessen Port Townsend Bay and the fleet finished up rowing and utilizing the iron wind (engines) to make it to Mats Mats.

The monitor the next day took the fleet from Mats Mats Bay to Fort Flagler Condition Park, east of Marrowstone Island together the principal transport channel in the Puget Seem. The weather conditions began out dim and cloudy, with temperatures in the reduced 60’s and 10-15 knot winds out of the south, backing into the south-southeast and then east-northeast as the fleet made its way north in perplexed 2-3 foot lumpy seas on a favorable ebb tide. At the time previous Marrowstone Place, with its exclusive lighthouse, the fleet appreciated a downwind run together the north-dealing with cliffs and made it previous Ratt Island and into Kilisut Harbor in between Marrowstone and Indian Island in the late early morning. The past vessel arrived just soon after 1pm. By that time, the skies had cleared and a gorgeous even though substantially cooler afternoon was enjoyed by all.

The monitor the 3rd day was a comparatively brief operate from Fort Flagler Condition Park to Mystery Bay State Park on Marrowstone Island and, for some boats, a return to Fort Flagler Condition Park.

The track the fourth and remaining day took the remaining 2015 Palooza Croosa individuals from Kilisut Harbor back to Port Townsend’s Boat Haven and the close of the cruise.
