A la fachada principal se accede por medio de una escalinata semicircular que salva el desnivel existente con el resto de la plaza. Sobre la portada de acceso al interior del templo figura como tema decorativo los atributos del titular, San Pedro: dos grandes llaves cruzadas, las del reino de los cielos,
una gran tiara flanqueada por un báculo y una cruz patriarcal.
Se trata de una iglesia que cuenta con un rico patrimonio mueble compuesto por doce retablos y buenas tallas.

Características
Iglesia de origen medieval que ha sufrido transformaciones a lo largo del tiempo, la última durante el siglo XIX. El conjunto es un típico ejemplo de arquitectura well-known del siglo XVII.
Su fábrica es de mampostería y ladrillo, como vienen a ser los edificios barrocos murcianos, y paramentos revocados de yeso blanco debido a la última restauración de Pedro A. Abril.
Interior del templo
Su distribución interior se organiza en torno a una cruz latina con tres naves de similares proporciones. Los soportes son pilastras cruciformes de orden dórico que sirven de apoyo a los arcos triunfal y fajones, todos de medio punto, que a su vez constituyen el esqueleto de las bóvedas, de medio cañón, que cubren las tres naves del crucero.
A los pies, en lo alto, se sitúa el coro. La torre se eleva también a los pies, al sureste, en el lado izquierdo de la portada, distribuida en cuatro cuerpos, constituyendo el último el de campanas.
La fachada principal
La fachada principal consta de dos cuerpos. A ella se accede por medio de una escalinata semicircular que salva el desnivel existente con el resto de la plaza. En el ático figura como tema decorativo los símbolos iconográficos del titular del templo: sobre dos grandes llaves cruzadas, las del reino de los cielos, una gran tiara flanqueada por un báculo y una cruz patriarcal, símbolo del poder de los obispos de la iglesia Occidental y Oriental respectivamente.
El ático está rematado por un simulado frontón, partido para albergar un óculo que cumple la doble misión de iluminar el inside del coro y servir de elemento decorativo al exterior.
La portada
La portada se encuentra flanqueada por dos balconcillos con antepecho de forja y tirantes de sostén del mismo product, con carpintería de cuarterones del siglo XVIII. Ambos balconcillos tienen idéntica misión que el óculo excellent.
El cuerpo inferior alberga la entrada, de medio punto, con atisbos de abocinamiento, que se cierra con puerta barroca de batientes de madera estoperoles cuadrifolios, flanqueada por dos pilastras de orden dórico y sobre ellas un sencillo entablamento que da paso al ático.
