Gloucester Cathedral, or the Cathedral Church of St Peter and the Holy and Indivisible Trinity, in Gloucester, England, stands in the north of the metropolis close to the river. It originated in 678Advertisement with the basis of an abbey devoted to Saint Peter (dissolved by King Henry VIII).
The cathedral, built as the abbey church, is made up of a Norman nucleus, with additions in just about every model of Gothic architecture. It is 420 toes (130 m) lengthy, and 144 ft (44 m) broad, with a fantastic central tower of the 15th century growing to the top of 225 ft (69 m) and topped by 4 delicate pinnacles, a well-known landmark. The nave is significant Norman with an Early English roof the crypt, below the choir, aisles and chapels, is Norman, as is the chapter house. The crypt is just one of the 4 apsidal cathedral crypts in England
