The Community Boat Undertaking learners, led by Captains Wayne Chimenti and MB Armstrong and veteran trainer Marci Van Celeve, introduced the fourth boat constructed in the application, the 32-foot sailing vessel EPIC.
The Community Boat Project is a distinctive partnership amongst the Northwest College of Picket Boatbuilding (the guide business), Port Townsend University District (#50), Chimacum University District (#49), 4-H/Washington State University (WSU), and the Puget Audio Voyaging Modern society.

It is an “all ages, all volunteers” community-oriented non-gain firm specializing in cost-free, accredited packages for significant school learners.
Intergenerational maritime education and learning is the mission of the Group Boat Store.
The Store strives to give youth a “feeling of place” by connecting them to the atmosphere, the economy, and the men and women of the Olympic Peninsula.
In brief, Community Boat Project volunteers –develop– large voyaging boats with substantial faculty students – one large boat per year – whilst the non-profit Puget Audio Voyaging Society, which runs at the exact time, and then by way of the summer months, teaches substantial faculty pupils how to — use– individuals exact same boats.
The program’s philosophy is centered on five principles.
Social Justice: Good quality instructional chances should be out there to all. For that reason all Community Boatshop applications are free to general public school youth or sliding scale that matches the wants of any team. Group Boatshop plans are open up to all.
Neighborhood Supported Education and learning: Schooling should be neighborhood driven. The Community Local community drives what is important to understand. Neighborhood Boatshop applications are funded by donations of supplies and cash from the local community, and are run on 100% volunteer skills and energy.
Experiential Mastering: Finding out is best carried out via hands-on, genuine meaningful encounters.
Environmental Sustainability and Sensitivity: The environmental implications of all of Community Boatshop steps are deemed, and the the greatest selection designed for bare minimum impression.
Empowerment: There is a chief in each individual individual.
The Northwest College of Wood Boatbuilding is located in Port Hadlock WA and is a personal, accredited non-income vocational school.
The School’s mission is to train and maintain the great artwork of picket boatbuilding and regular maritime crafts.
