You can see what the Store is undertaking at their web site, here: communityboats.wordpress.com/

It is an “all ages, all volunteers” group-oriented non-profit organization specializing in free of charge, accredited programs for large school learners.

Intergenerational maritime training is the mission of the Community Boat Shop.
The Shop strives to give youth a “perception of place” by connecting them to the ecosystem, the overall economy, and the men and women of the Olympic Peninsula.

In short, Local community Boat Task volunteers –establish– substantial voyaging boats with substantial university students – just one massive boat per yr – when the non-profit Puget Audio Voyaging Culture, which operates at the same time, and then by way of the summer season, teaches higher college pupils how to — use– these identical boats.

The program’s philosophy is centered on five ideas.

Social Justice: Top quality academic chances need to be accessible to all. As a result all Local community Boatshop applications are cost-free to community school youth or sliding scale that matches the requirements of any group. Group Boatshop courses are open up to all.

Group Supported Education: Instruction must be community pushed. The Nearby Neighborhood drives what is critical to master. Neighborhood Boatshop plans are funded by donations of resources and dollars from the community, and are run on 100% volunteer knowledge and electrical power.

Experiential Understanding: Understanding is best performed by hands-on, true significant activities.

Environmental Sustainability and Sensitivity: The environmental implications of all of Local community Boatshop actions are regarded, and the the greatest alternative manufactured for minimum effects.

Empowerment: There is a leader in each individual particular person.

The Northwest University of Wood Boatbuilding is located in Port Hadlock WA and is a personal, accredited non-revenue vocational school.

The School’s mission is to instruct and preserve the fantastic art of picket boatbuilding and traditional maritime crafts.
