A substantial team of us expended the morning of 7 July 2019 at the house and assets of Keith and Sandy Logan. They dwell NW of Cochrane on a 35-acre parcel of land. The team split in fifty percent and took turns to glance at Keith’s spectacular pictures and remarkable woodwork and also to bio/blitz their land, to report all flora and fauna seen. We were being handled to espresso and delicious cake in Keith’s enormous woodworking barn. We all agree – if you sit in one particular of Keith’s wood chairs, you can expect to see that no chair could at any time be a lot more at ease – they are merely remarkable!

Some people today observed a number of birds, though they have been virtually all incredibly distant sightings. I assume the closest were a pair of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, feeding younger that ended up in a tree cavity. I did deal with to get a shot of a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, much too.
On a go to like this, I am constantly torn between seeking for birds, wildflowers, or fungi – not to point out any cats and puppies. This working day was a mix of all 3 – the type of working day I like. Basically, we have been amazed that there had been not many wildflowers to be noticed. Not sure if this means we are a little bit late for them. Our weather has been completely insane because New Year, so who understands what is early and what is late. I was happy to see the odd fungus right here and there in the Aspen forest.
All early morning, we had been followed around the backyard garden by the Logan’s two monumental canines – two stunning, friendly Newfoundland puppies, named Sally and Blueberry (?). What magnificent canine these are! I assume foods should be on their head all the time. Anytime another person would sit and eat their lunch, possibly a single or equally canines would occur more than and stand or sit and glimpse longingly at what was being eaten. This kind of sweet canines.
I really like to see their cats, far too. On preceding visits, there ended up three cats, but I do not know if they only have two now. What a attractive position they are fortuitous sufficient to connect with ‘home’.
Just after lunch, we drove a quick distance to another area, URSA, which stands for Universal Rehabilitation Company Company. Just before non-financial gain URSA obtained the area, it employed to belong to W.O.Mitchell, who applied it as a retreat. We had been introduced to Ben, who life in W.O. Mitchell’s gorgeous old cabin. Ben’s passion is developing wonderful metal sculptures and a lot of of his functions are scattered on the land all over the cabin.
