This is a person of the remaining properties of the manufacturing facility complex owned by H.B. Smith. The manufacturing unit primarily produced woodworking tools, but also designed Star bicycles in the late 1800’s. In the 1830’s the land was acquired by the Shreve Brothers, Jonathan and Samuel to build a textile mill. At that time the land become identified as Shreveville, and prospered into the 1850’s. The village populace grew to about 400 throughout this time. The Shreve brothers achievement finished in the 1850’s with a textile depression.

H.B. Smith then acquired the land and started off upgrading the manufacturing facility. He also utilized a lot of his possess dollars to develop dormitories for single workers, and opera house for lifestyle, colleges for the village’s young children.

Unlike most factories in the course of this time woman and children had been not a significant portion of the work power, and documents present that it was unusually protected.
