Not a single of my most elaborate or even pleasing wooden carvings. It can be a significant bowl shaped detail with a handle (to the rear)
It was a fee from a Funeral Director. To be utilized on a burial, exactly where the bowl is loaded with earth. This is then proffered to mourners, who get a handful of soil and chuck it on top of the coffin.
No idea what the wooden is but it was gentle and a pig to carve.
