Developing Abilities and Knowledge Amongst Young People.

Building skills in the lives of our youth

CBMM’s Rising Tide boatshop program, in collaboration with the YMCA of the Chesapeake and Academy Art Museum of Easton, is an initiative to teach Talbot County sixth-graders basic boatbuilding skills in a relaxing environment, with the aim of promoting pride, confidence, and mentorships with shipwright educators. The program is funded through philanthropic support and started with two six-week after-school sessions for limited participation in November 2015. The YMCA of the Chesapeake organizes registration and transportation from its Easton location. The program teaches basic woodworking techniques and safety measures, with take-home projects for students.
