We had been quite sorry to go away Pelican Seaside and all the intriguing tales of the individuals location up camp there, but our float system to attain Anacortes by Friday dictated a few extra miles to the working day. We might like to reach Cypress Head just before sunset, if attainable, but the adverse currents when we set off produced us dilemma if we’d get down Bellingham Channel. Nonetheless, they turned favourable once we cleared the Cone Islands, and we pulled into the anchorage about 6pm.

This was our 2nd stay in Cypress Head, and, just like the very first time, the wind whistled among the headlands, in excess of the spit, right by means of the harbour all night. I wouldn’t advocate this spot after the two windy nights we put in there, until you enjoy skating around your anchor all night. (There are four mooring balls for those people that choose the security they present, but with our shallow draft we desire anchoring closer to the beach… a a lot shorter row in the morning!)
