We are creating an Artwork Float for Social Modify at Tam Makers, to encourage much more individuals to participate in democracy. Our parade float will access out to youth and persons of colour via artwork, audio and technological innovation. We will existing this art clearly show on Earth Day, Memorial Working day and Fourth of July parades in Marin — and in the course of California this slide, to inspire individuals to vote in the future election.
Our distinctive art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving fingers, pulled by a large feathered serpent. Performers will inform stories of hope on a phase adorned with scenes of a much better earth. Massive signs will invite people to discuss up and vote! You can pitch thoughts for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the information ticker.
This local community art undertaking is designed by a crew of learners and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam Higher Faculty for web hosting this challenge and to all our superb volunteers and art, civic and educational companions, for helping produce this float and present it to a varied neighborhood.
We are setting up this undertaking in March and April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm — or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, remember to email us at float@tammakers.org.
