Clyne

A day out exploring in Neath Valley. October 2019

A bit of a past minute trip soon after unforeseen great weather. I would cycled by the valley not too long ago and noticed some dereliction, so I was keen to arrive again with a digicam.
Because the cycle I’d been studying maps and seeking to research the areas I’d spotted with a minor achievement.
A bizarre row of houses and what looked like a manor in Clyne. A derelict victorian school in Clyne. And both a armed service or industrial web-site in Rheola.

I also desired to visit Cwmllynfell wherever an open solid quarry was encroaching on the village and had currently swallowed up a dwelling or two and a lane. I fancied visiting Cefn Coed Colliery Museum way too.

Liked both web sites at Clyne, failed to get to see a great deal as Rheola, Cwmllynfell wasn’t as appealing as I hoped as the google maps I would been studying were being out of day, and the museum was shut for wintertime! Not a bad day out while.

Pen y Bank
An odd semi detached household, situated in a area with no noticeable road or monitor going to it. Complicated to say how long it had been empty, as some of the woodwork and so forth was in ok affliction.
Livestock now utilizing it as shelter, despite the fact that I wouldn’t be eager to be in in this article throughout superior winds as it won’t glance like it will survive for extensive.
Traces of a tramway just driving the home, and continues to be of coal mining in the trees powering. outdated-maps.co.british isles tells me that there was also a tin works in the subsequent area. Resolven Tin Plate Is effective operational from anything like 1890 – 1949?
The trees on equally sides of Twrch Brook is littered with rusty equipment and small guidelines from the mining, although a reduce area [location of Tin Plate Works] seems to be a farm equipment graveyard, such as this beautiful Fordson tractor with a tree rising out of it.
