A working day out exploring in Neath Valley. October 2019
A bit of a final minute journey right after unanticipated excellent climate. I’d cycled by the valley a short while ago and observed some dereliction, so I was keen to come back with a digital camera.
Due to the fact the cycle I would been researching maps and trying to research the destinations I might noticed with a tiny success.
A unusual row of properties and what seemed like a manor in Clyne. A derelict victorian school in Clyne. And both a navy or industrial site in Rheola.
I also desired to go to Cwmllynfell exactly where an open solid quarry was encroaching on the village and experienced by now swallowed up a home or two and a lane. I fancied browsing Cefn Coed Colliery Museum also.
Enjoyed both sites at Clyne, didn’t get to see significantly as Rheola, Cwmllynfell wasn’t as fascinating as I hoped as the google maps I’d been studying had been out of date, and the museum was shut for wintertime! Not a terrible day out though.
Pen y Financial institution
An odd semi detached house, located in a area with no apparent road or monitor likely to it. Tricky to say how prolonged it had been empty, as some of the woodwork etcetera was in okay issue.
Livestock now applying it as shelter, although I wouldn’t be keen to be in right here during significant winds as it will not appear like it will endure for prolonged.

The trees on the two sides of Twrch Brook is littered with rusty equipment and small suggestions from the mining, though a reduce field [location of Tin Plate Works] seems to be a farm machinery graveyard, like this beautiful Fordson tractor with a tree rising out of it.
