Clyne

A day out exploring in Neath Valley. October 2019

A bit of a very last minute journey after unforeseen very good climate. I might cycled via the valley not long ago and found some dereliction, so I was keen to arrive again with a camera.
Considering that the cycle I’d been researching maps and seeking to analysis the sites I’d noticed with a small good results.
A bizarre row of properties and what seemed like a manor in Clyne. A derelict victorian university in Clyne. And both a army or industrial web page in Rheola.

I also preferred to pay a visit to Cwmllynfell where an open up solid quarry was encroaching on the village and had previously swallowed up a residence or two and a lane. I fancied visiting Cefn Coed Colliery Museum too.

Liked equally internet sites at Clyne, failed to get to see a lot as Rheola, Cwmllynfell was not as interesting as I hoped as the google maps I might been studying were out of date, and the museum was shut for wintertime! Not a lousy day out however.

Pen y Lender
An odd semi detached residence, situated in a subject with no clear street or monitor going to it. Tough to say how very long it experienced been empty, as some of the woodwork etcetera was in okay ailment.
Livestock now working with it as shelter, whilst I wouldn’t be eager to be in listed here for the duration of high winds as it will not glimpse like it will survive for very long.
Traces of a tramway just driving the home, and continues to be of coal mining in the trees driving. old-maps.co.uk tells me that there was also a tin will work in the future area. Resolven Tin Plate Operates operational from a little something like 1890 – 1949?
The trees on each sides of Twrch Brook is littered with rusty equipment and compact recommendations from the mining, even though a reduce field [location of Tin Plate Works] would seem to be a farm equipment graveyard, which include this charming Fordson tractor with a tree increasing out of it.
