Our center-college college students at Tam Superior are building a City of the Long term collectively, applying arts and electronics to make a product of what our globe may well be like in 100 several years.
In our sixth course, college students labored in teams to make public areas for their town: underwater mines, segregated neighborhoods, area rubbles and gated skyscrapers for the abundant. This week’s creations included a new town sign, extra ladders, additional mine staff, and tall, skinny towers scraping the crimson sky.
They also agreed on a last identify for their town: 15A, named following its sector coordinates. In their write-up-apocalyptic town of the long run, the rich are divided from the lousy, who mine the sea floor and are oppressed by a govt run by machines.
I am instructing this just after-college course with Geo Monley and Cynthia Gilbert, and we are happy to see our learners so engaged in this undertaking. By this system, they are establishing a selection of capabilities, from imaginative expression to science and engineering (STEAM). And they are master to produce interactive artwork with very simple electronics, in a playful and collaborative way that makes learning additional enjoyable.
