City of the Future: Second Class at Tam High

Our after-university college students at Tam Large are creating a Metropolis of the Foreseeable future alongside one another, utilizing arts and electronics to make a model of what our entire world may perhaps be like in 100 several years.

In our 2nd class, they built the town they visualize for this project and took turns talking about their thoughts with each and every other. In their article-apocalyptic scenario, the prosperous are separated from the inadequate, who mine the sea floor and are oppressed by a federal government operate by devices.

They also picked characters and objects for their town — some of which will be laser cut and printed in 3D. Upcoming, they realized to solder stick figures out of copper wire, then built gentle circuits with LEDs and batteries. Lastly, they included these lights to their futuristic houses, which they continued to adorn with present wrapping paper, artwork supplies and day-to-day objects.

We have a terrific group of 8 center university students, ages 12 to 14, in this after-college course. Through this course, college students will develop a range of expertise, from resourceful expression to science and engineering (STEAM). And they will study to develop their own interactive art with basic electronics, in a playful way that helps make mastering far more enjoyable.
