Our middle-faculty pupils at Tam Superior are constructing a City of the Future jointly, using arts and electronics to make a model of what our earth might be like in 100 a long time.
In our fifth course, learners completed their particular person artwork containers and began to build general public spaces for their metropolis: underwater mines, segregated neighborhoods, area rubbles and tall skyscrapers. Learners labored in groups to establish these areas collectively, and this week’s creations involved dozens of new characters with gas masks, rooms with ladders, a pile of broken robots, and a skyscraper foundation with a mutilated poster of Donald Trump.
In their put up-apocalyptic city of the future, the abundant are separated from the bad, who mine the sea ground and are oppressed by a federal government run by equipment. We are inviting them get to past this dystopian worldview to invent methods to that city’s complications — and to aspiration up a superior entire world.
I am educating this right after-university course with Geo Monley, and we are happy to see our pupils so engaged in this challenge. Via this class, they are producing a range of techniques, from creative expression to science and engineering (STEAM).
