Our middle-university pupils at Tam Substantial are developing a City of the Future alongside one another, using arts and electronics to make a model of what our environment might be like in 100 decades.
In our fifth course, college students concluded their personal art boxes and commenced to create general public areas for their metropolis: underwater mines, segregated neighborhoods, surface area rubbles and tall skyscrapers. Pupils worked in groups to make these spaces collectively, and this week’s creations included dozens of new figures with gasoline masks, rooms with ladders, a pile of broken robots, and a skyscraper base with a mutilated poster of Donald Trump.
In their submit-apocalyptic town of the foreseeable future, the prosperous are divided from the bad, who mine the sea ground and are oppressed by a governing administration run by devices. We are inviting them arrive at past this dystopian worldview to invent methods to that city’s difficulties — and to desire up a greater world.
I am instructing this just after-college course with Geo Monley, and we are happy to see our students so engaged in this undertaking.
