Jernbolaget chisel

Jernbolaget, located in Eskilstuna, Sweden, was a multifaceted company known primarily for their production of kitchenware, household items, and cutlery. Their cast iron kitchen scale was a popular item, however, they also produced hand tools such as chisels, planes, and other woodworking tools. The company’s full name was Eskilstuna Jernmanufaktur AB, which was later abbreviated to Jernbolaget Eskilstuna. The anchor symbol was a common stamp found on all of the company’s products.

While the author has not seen many hand tools from Jernbolaget, some of their woodworking tools were exported under the brand name “Anchor.” The company also began producing hand planes during this time. Although the author has never used an Anchor hand plane, they speculate that the quality of the tool’s cutter was likely excellent, as Jernbolaget produced steel equal in quality to that of Erik Anton Berg.

Overall, Jernbolaget was a respected tool maker, known not only for their production of household items and cutlery but also for their quality hand tools.
