Octagon sports and entertainment teamed up with Britten Woodworks to create an outdoor dining experience with a touch of culinary competition for the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational for key tour sponsor MasterCard. Golf pros Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell were pitted against each other in a pre-game cook-off, where fans decided the winner. Britten’s creative team conceptualized and built the visual ingredients for the experiential activation, including two sets of modern countertops, two large 8’ X 11’ shelving units, and “showdown” foam signage measuring 4’ X 8’. They also added MasterCard pillowcase prints, foam logos, and tabletop decals to deliver the vibrant finishing touches. Britten’s project managers took the event to another level by including PutterBall and Cornhole games for guests. In the end, McDowell impressed the crowd with his liquid nitrogen-infused dish and won the showdown. MasterCard’s CEO was impressed with the delivery and execution, and Octagon intends to send more work Britten’s way as a result.
