St. Andrew’s church in Bramfield is a beautiful and fascinating church to visit, particularly for its medieval rood-screen and 17th century monument to the Coke family. Built in the Middle Ages, the church has a distinctive exterior with a detached round tower and has been rendered and limewashed for protection. Inside, the church is one long open space divided into nave and chancel without aisles. The rood-screen draws the eye with its delicate woodwork and surviving painted saints from the early 16th century. Beyond the screen, the chancel contains the striking monument to the Coke family by Nicholas Stone featuring a kneeling Arthur Coke and a serene Elizabeth holding their baby. The church is well worth a visit and is kept open for visitors. The area is popular for churchcrawling with multiple churches nearby to visit.
