Aitkin County Courthouse, 209 2nd Road NW, Aitkin, Minnesota. This setting up is essentially the next courthouse for the county. The initially courthouse was built in 1888, but in 1920 a grand jury documented that the building was risky and “slipping apart”. Immediately after troubles securing funding, the county commissioners approved a system for a new courthouse, which was concluded in 1929. The design mixes Beaux-Arts architecture and Moderne components. The interior functions marble wainscoting, oak woodwork, terrazzo floors, and stained glass skylights.
