Table with a Contoured Yellowheart Design

Yellowheart Contour Table

The coffee table described in this content is a unique and contemporary piece that blends exotic wood with two levels of glass. The wood used is Pau Amarello or Yellowheart, a yellow exotic wood that is commonly used by specialty woodworkers because of its bright and unique color. The wood’s curved shape is achieved through careful cutting on the scroll saw, followed by sanding and finishing with a clear lacquer to maintain its glossy shine.

The two glass shelves of the coffee table are made of Plexiglas, which is also cut on the scroll saw and then sanded to fine-tune the shape. The legs of the coffee table are made of aluminum threaded posts and rivets. The dimensions of the coffee table are approximately 1 ½ inches tall, 5 inches wide, and 3 ¼ inches deep, with width and depth at the widest and deepest points.

Pau Amarello trees can grow to more than 130 feet tall and 30 inches in diameter. The wood is known for its large leaves, which can grow up to 10 inches long and 4 inches wide. Pau Amarello trees are primarily found in the State of Para, Brazil, and the heartwood of the tree is a bright yellow color that darkens slightly on exposure to sunlight.

The combination of the unique and exotic Yellowheart wood, the two levels of glass, and the contemporary design make this coffee table a functional and visually impressive conversation piece. It is an example of the creativity and skill that can be achieved through woodworking and the use of unconventional materials.
