Kent’s Tunbridge Wells: Remembering St Michael the Archangel and King Charles the Martyr.

St Michael the Archangel, King Charles the Martyr, Tunbridge Wells, Kent

The equinox marks the end of the year, a time for reflection on the past 50 weeks and mixed emotions. The author is on vacation, while Jools still has work to do, but will later celebrate with colleagues at a fancy place in Folkestone. The author drops Jools off at work, then embarks on a mini-churchcrawl in the far west of Kent. The author visits Penshurst Place and its Sidney Chapel, taking photographs and leaving a donation. The author then stops at Speldhurst and Groombridge, but believing the churches to be locked in the pouring rain, moves on to a church in Tunbridge Wells where photography is also questioned by a warden. The author leaves to keep a promise to a Big Issue seller, then returns to Folkestone to pick up Jools.
