The author, Ian, is on a work trip to Warrington for an audit. He wakes up early and goes for a walk on the beach before driving to the airport to rent a car. He has to use his phone for navigation since the car doesn’t have sat nav. On his way to Warrington, he decides to detour to visit a church where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and executed. He takes some photos and continues his journey.
On his way to the audit, Ian visits another church in Titchmarsh but doesn’t find anything particularly interesting. He continues driving and encounters heavy snowfall, causing some delays. He meets up with a friend before continuing to his hotel, a golf resort. Despite the snow and low fuel warning, he arrives safely and settles in for dinner.
