Rising Tide After School Boatbuilding Program at CBMM

CBMM’s Soaring Tide boatshop program is a pilot initiative in collaboration with the YMCA of the Chesapeake. In November, 2015, the program started with just one of two, 6-7 days just after-university boatbuilding periods made available to Talbot County 6th grade students.

The pilot sessions have limited participation, with the YMCA of the Chesapeake arranging registration and transportation from its Easton locale.

Funded via philanthropic help, the method is made to instruct learners primary boatbuilding techniques in a welcoming, calm environment. The purpose of the method is to empower learners to develop a perception of self-self-assurance and delight, and facilitate mentorships with shipwright educators that will give steering and guidance through this essential yr in their improvement.

The periods include studying fundamental woodworking techniques and basic safety processes, with quite a few acquire-residence assignments for participants.
