This is a four-strake Caledonia Yawl nearing completion in the School’s Modern class throughout the summer months of 2009 underneath the path of teacher Bruce Blatchley.
The Caledonia Yawl was designed by Ian Oughtred for building in glued lapstrake marine plywood, and is a single of his most popular styles.

It is 19′ 6″ extensive with a beam of 6′ 1″. She’ll draw about 11 inches with the centerboard up and 3′ 6″ with the centerboard down. The boat weighs about 350 lbs . in its “as-intended” configuration, and can quickly be personalized to an owner’s wishes. It can be designed as a sloop (just one mast) or yawl (two masts).
