Rio Vista Household was designed for William Benjamin Chaffey by architects Sharland and Edmonds and designed by Adelaide builder John Williams.
Williams finished the design in 1891. A assortment of community and imported supplies had been utilized.
The bricks were from nearby kilns even though the Murray Pine and Pink Gum woodwork came from Risbey’s Sawmills. All floors ended up built from Western Australian Jarrah with the hallway featuring Italian tiles. Wall panelling attributes regional Murray Pine panelling and imported wallpaper. The most important staircase is of cedar and blackwood.
