The platters I have sent to this exhibition combine many ceramic traditions. The initial is, The Palace Artwork Pot. Palace Art Pots ended up built to display wealth and electric power. They were being created to notify a story, to commemorate an function or a person, and to exhibit skill and obstacle the capabilities of the artisans who built them. The 2nd tradition is the Fish Platter. Fish platters ended up a staple of the Neo Arts and Crafts Motion of the 1950s and 60s. The 3rd and past custom is the Just one-Line visual and verbal Pun, Platters of the ceramic Funk Motion.
Humor by the use of the visual pun was a mainstay of the California Funk motion. Humor in clay has a tradition as previous as the use of the substance. I have experimented with to exchange historical designs with objects reduced to sample. Some of the objects are extensions of my ecosystem or reflections of own passions. My abilities as A draftsman are limited but appear to be to be suitable for the form and high-quality of picture that the matter needs. The clay entire body, a red earthenware, is intensely potted and tends to make no secrete of its variants and flaws. The glaze work is in the Majolica fashion and is done extremely significantly like a watercolor on comfortable paper. The pots are fired 2 times. They are bisqued to cone 05 and glazed to cone 04. Some might have an extra firing to Cone 018 for lower temperature luster and enamels. They are fired in an oxidizing ambiance applying an electric powered kiln.
