We are building a public makerspace in Tam Large School’s state-of-the-art woodshop, to build awesome objects — and develop a local community of makers, pupils and academics in South Marin.
Below are some of the artworks we are creating in Geo Monley’s woodworking workshop, identified as ‘You Can Establish It’. With his enable, I am making a ‘maker art cart’ to showcase the work of our learners — and Howard Rheingold is creating a triangular table for our Pataphysical Studios.
This week, I utilised the laser cutter to make figures for our City of the Long run class. In this ‘maker art’ course, decrease and center school students will develop a futuristic dwelling with a cardboard ‘wonderbox’ and animated people these kinds of as these. They will carry these wood and acrylic figures to existence with lights, seems and motion, using simple electronics.
Geo showed off ‘Maker Field’, the animatronic town his significant university students are creating with his assist. Here’s their get the job done in progress, which now capabilities a wide variety of structures (together with ‘Trump Towers’ and a 5V energy plant), as nicely as a robot automobile powered with Arduino.
