We are developing a community makerspace in Tam Superior School’s state-of-the-artwork woodshop, to produce cool objects — and grow a community of makers, pupils and lecturers in South Marin.
In this article are some of the artworks we are generating in Geo Monley’s woodworking workshop, called ‘You Can Build It’. With his enable, I am creating a ‘maker art cart’ to showcase the perform of our learners — and Howard Rheingold is building a triangular desk for our Pataphysical Studios.
This week, I employed the laser cutter to make characters for our Town of the Future course. In this ‘maker art’ class, decrease and center university students will create a futuristic house with a cardboard ‘wonderbox’ and animated people these types of as these. They will bring these wooden and acrylic figures to lifetime with lights, seems and motion, utilizing straightforward electronics.
Geo showed off ‘Maker Field’, the animatronic city his large university students are developing with his aid. Here’s their function in progress, which now features a wide range of buildings (which includes ‘Trump Towers’ and a 5V electrical power plant), as properly as a robotic car or truck powered with Arduino.
