We experienced a blast at the very first meetup for Tam Makers, our new makerspace in Mill Valley. We hosted this cost-free celebration at the wooden shop at Tamalpais Superior College in Mill Valley on June 8, 2016.
A various team of people today came to the take a look at the shop, learn about our classes and focus on how to grow our maker local community. Members ranged from seasoned artists, technologists, makers and woodworkers, to individuals interested in discovering new abilities, as very well as superior faculty and middle university pupils and their mothers and fathers.
We opened the store at 6pm and people commenced to hook up right absent, examining out some of our demos, exhibiting off the latest jobs and touring the area. At 7pm, we gave a presentation on Tam Makers, and talked about our first programs, meetups and equipment for grownups and youth. We then reviewed these plans as a team and acquired some definitely useful suggestions.
Most people were pretty fascinated in participating in Tam Makers and employing the makerspace routinely. They also appreciated the blend of lessons, ranging from maker artwork to engineering and woodworking. Some folks signed up for courses on the place and most wanted to sign up for additional meetups. Lots of offered to volunteer as properly. Just one human being reported this event experienced a wonderful group feeling, contrary to a lot more commercially inspired makerspaces.
We’re truly happy that this to start with meetup went so nicely and that so a lot of people want to take part actively. We look ahead to collaborating with our new maker buddies quite before long!
