Historical past:
The mansion, also recognized as the Thistle Hill mansion, was constructed from 1903 to 1904 for Electra Waggoner, the daughter of William Thomas Waggoner and heiress of the Waggoner Ranch, and her husband, Albert Buck Wharton. It was developed by Sanguinet & Staats in the Georgian Revival architectural model. The house is two and a 50 percent stories with a gambrel roof. Projecting bays on each and every aspect of the dwelling use semi-circular aspects. The brick home is trimmed in solid stone and the sloped roof is green tile. The interior options a grand staircase and elaborate woodwork. The grounds are fenced with brick walls and ornamental iron. A carriage house is positioned on the rear of the house.
In 1911, area businessman and cattle baron Winfield Scott bought the dwelling from the Whartons. Scott renovated the house and the grounds at the time.
In 1940, the mansion was obtained by the Girls Company League of Fort Worth. The dwelling was then empty from 1968 to 1975. A year later on, in 1976, a preservation non-earnings group termed Conserve-the-Scott purchased the residence and restored it.
On January 1, 2006, Historic Fort Really worth, Inc. took possession of the house and has devoted time and means toward additional restoration. The household is now a museum, open for excursions and carries on to be rented for weddings and receptions.
