Seaforth University
6501 Deer Lake Avenue (Deer Lake Park)
In 1921, in the Lozells location, north of Burnaby Lake, about two dozen of the regional little ones were forced to wander 3 miles to the closest faculty. Worried that bears and cougars have been roaming the district, neighborhood mom and dad petitioned the School Board for a school which was finished and opened on September 7, 1922. The school was named soon after its sponsor: the Seaforth Chapter of the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire. The Burnaby School Board’s architects Bowman & Cullerne made the just one room college home pursuing the benchmarks of British Columbia faculty architecture. The developing remained in continuous use until finally June 1983, even just after the completion of a present day college on the very same website at Govt Road and Piper Road in 1958. The faculty was moved to Heritage Village on July 6, 1983. The creating now serves as a well-known instructional exhibit. Seaforth Faculty was safeguarded as a selected heritage developing in 1984.
