When the linseed oil is settling, time for a new scrapwood undertaking: a rolling cart for my tiny planer, so I can get it off the ground and make it easier to use without having accomplishing harm to my again. Delighted to be applying up additional of my scrap stash, will get it out of the way, far too.

The wood for the legs is interesting stuff. Yrs back, I created a pergola in the again property, and picked up a batch of Douglas fir 2x6s to use for it. A single of the boards was not like the some others, with swirly grain that didn’t go well with the correctly straight grain of the rest of the fir boards. Was not confident what was heading on there, but I put it aside. When I ultimately determined to use it for this venture, I uncovered that it really is almost surely not Douglas fir at all. Not confident what it is, but it smells wonderful when slice or planed, and planes amazingly sweetly. Consider it would get carving beautifully as nicely, but is most likely as well delicate to do just about anything extremely serious with. Rigid ample for this goal, while. Also darkens noticeably over time with exposure to mild. Will have to get out my wood identification publications and figure out what it is…
