Our center-faculty college students at Tam High are developing a Metropolis of the Future alongside one another, applying arts and electronics to make a product of what our earth may perhaps be like in 100 years.
In our seventh course, students continued to get the job done in groups to make general public spaces for their city: underwater mines, rich and poor parts, surface rubbles and skyscrapers for the loaded.
In their publish-apocalyptic city of the foreseeable future, identified as 15A, the loaded are separated from the weak, who mine the sea ground and are oppressed by a government operate by machines. This week’s creations provided a new fence amongst rich and bad, a harmful river, trees and bushes.
I am instructing this immediately after-school system with my partners Geo Monley and Cynthia Gilbert. They loaded in for me for this course, as I was at a maker ed convening the working day of the course. These photos have been taken two days later, with our artwork cart in a storage house.
We are definitely satisfied to see our students so engaged in this venture. They are developing a wide range of competencies, from artistic expression to science and engineering. And they are finding out to develop interactive artwork with easy electronics, in a playful and collaborative way that makes discovering far more exciting.
