Zero Clearance Insert and Thin Rip Jig

Below is my Shopsmith 10ER with a tailor made zero-clearance insert lower from 1/4 inch plywood. Chopping to measurement was straight ahead, but drilling the holes for the set screws proved tough.

I also constructed a jig to straddle the saw’s fence that will allow me to rip slender stock safely. I traced the form of a noticed manage and rounded the edges on the router desk. The fit was a smidge unfastened so I shimmed on the inside of with electrical tape. Looks superior now.
