Sheffield - Dore, Christ Church

Organ – in organ chamber to the
south facet of the chancel.
The latest organ is the most modern
of various diverse instruments
utilised in the church in a selection of
distinctive destinations.

The organ is a rebuilding, in 1970 by
Cousans of Lincoln, of the previously
Keates, 3 guide, organ
at first set up in 1911. Albert
Keates was an outstanding provincial
organ builder and there are a lot of
examples of his function in the location,
and even further afield. The third guide
(the Choir organ) was taken out
in the course of the rebuilding.

The organ console and casework sits
inside of an arched opening to the
south facet of the chancel with
dummy pipes to the east wall of the
nave. The organ casework is of the
“pipe-rack” form with gold painted
pipes and oak woodwork.
