Birmingham Heritage Week Open Day at Bournville Parish Church: St Francis of Assisi.

Different properties in Bournville Village were being open on the heritage open day on Saturday 11th September 2021.

Very first I went to Bournville Village Major College. then the Quaker Friend’s Conference House, and ultimately Bournville Parish Church (St Francis of Assisi Church).

Concluded 1925, by W Alexander Harvey. Brick with bare minimum stone dressings Roman
tile roof with Lombardic eaves cornice. In a spherical-arched type. Basilican in
plan with apses east and west, narrow lean-to aisles and north and south porches.
Granite arcade coluans whose capitals are alternately carved and unoarved. 6 bays,
the aisle window and couplet to each and every bay. Superb woodwork in the stalls. South
chapel of 1966. The church sorts a team with the Parish Corridor to which it is
bodily connected on the remaining.

The South Chapel was by Laurence and Joyce Cadbury in memory of their little ones, Julian, Anthea and Lindsay in 1966.
