This is a German Kunz no 7 attempt plane. I can not identify the age of this airplane, as small is knob about the company. This individual aircraft is 1 of my heirlooms, as it when belonged to my late grandfather. This plane was likely applied by him in many distinctive means but given that he designed his summer months cottage in the Finnish archipelago by him´myself, I would assume that this airplane was extremely much included.
The airplane has been nearly unused considering that the early 1970s when my grandfather passed away. And having become fascinated in woodworking I stumbled in excess of this hand plane when visiting the summer cottage in 2011. Herr Gustav Kunz was a modest person. The plane was only marked with the corporation name at the the toe with the model number at the heel. The lever cap and iron are unmarked at the entrance, but if you switch the iron all-around, the initials GK are stamped at the back again.
This airplane is not fitted with a frog changing screw on the back of the frog. Also the blade adjuster is alternatively smaller, especially looking at the dimension of the aircraft. The excellent point is that it leaves more area for your hand, but turning the wheel with just two fingers can be a bit of an challenge.
The aircraft is in pretty decent form, with only slight reduction of the japanning. Every single component on this airplane seems to be initial. The handles surface to be apple. They are lacquered but I are not able to notify if this was unique or some thing my grandfather included.
The person knowledge is incredibly good. The Kunz iron is a very good one particular and slightly thicker than the Stanley irons. I have not fettled a whole great deal with it as I really rarely have a need to have for a no 7 and I also want to make guaranteed I would not injury it.
