This is a German Kunz no 7 try out aircraft. I are unable to identify the age of this plane, as small is knob about the firm. This certain aircraft is just one of my heirlooms, as it at the time belonged to my late grandfather. This airplane was possibly utilized by him in quite a few diverse means but because he created his summer months cottage in the Finnish archipelago by him´myself, I would believe that this aircraft was quite much associated.

The aircraft has been virtually unused considering the fact that the early 1970s when my grandfather handed away. And owning come to be intrigued in woodworking I stumbled more than this hand airplane when viewing the summer months cottage in 2011. Following investing nearly forty decades in a unheated summer months cottage and getting uncovered to the damp and salty winds of the Gulf of Finland, this aircraft experienced even now managed incredibly well. When I uncovered the aircraft it was evidently afflicted with gentle area rust and what appeared like salt stains on the sole, but all in all, the aircraft had survived very properly.
Herr Gustav Kunz was a modest male. The airplane was only marked with the enterprise title at the the toe with the design quantity at the heel. The lever cap and iron are unmarked at the entrance, but if you convert the iron around, the initials GK are stamped at the again.

This plane is not equipped with a frog adjusting screw on the back again of the frog. Also the blade adjuster is relatively compact, specifically considering the size of the aircraft. The fantastic point is that it leaves extra place for your hand, but turning the wheel with just two fingers can be a little bit of an challenge.

The airplane is in very good condition, with only slight loss of the japanning. Every single part on this airplane appears to be original. The handles surface to be apple. They are lacquered but I cannot explain to if this was authentic or a thing my grandfather additional.

The consumer practical experience is really superior. The Kunz iron is a good one particular and slightly thicker than the Stanley irons. I have not fettled a complete lot with it as I really seldom have a require for a no 7 and I also want to make absolutely sure I will never harm it.
